Honoring Our 2026 Grand Parade Marshals

It is a true privilege to honor two individuals whose lives reflect service, leadership, and an unwavering commitment to their community — Sue and James Medlock, the 2026 Grand Parade Marshals for Cushing Celebrates America with Friends and Neighbors.

A lifelong resident of Cushing, Sue Medlock is a proud graduate of Cushing High School Class of 1960 and a distinguished alumna of Oklahoma State University. Her remarkable career in education has impacted countless lives through her service as both a special education teacher and principal. Her dedication and excellence in education earned her the prestigious honor of Oklahoma Administrator of the Year.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Sue has devoted herself wholeheartedly to civic and community service. She has served in numerous leadership roles with organizations including the Daughters of the American Revolution, PEO International, Geographic Club, and the American Legion Auxiliary, while continuing her service on the Cushing Alumni Association. Her faith and musical talents have also blessed the community through her work as organist and choir director at First Methodist Church of Cushing. In her spare time, Sue enjoys playing mahjong and bridge with friends and family.

James Medlock brings with him a legacy of hard work, patriotism, and servant leadership. Raised in Arkansas, James owned and operated Medlock Forest Products in Charleston, Arkansas, building a respected career through dedication and perseverance. He is also a proud veteran of the United States Army.

After relocating to Cushing with Sue, James quickly became an integral part of the community. He has faithfully served as both a member and past commander of American Legion Post 108 and has been recognized for an extraordinary 50 years of service with the Masonic Lodge. Throughout the years, he has provided leadership and support to numerous civic and service organizations.

Together, Sue and James exemplify a life built on shared purpose, compassion, and service. Through their leadership of the Kids Sight Program with the Cushing Lions Club, they have positively impacted the lives of countless children and families throughout the region.

Above all, their greatest pride and joy is their family. Blessed with 15 grandchildren and 15

great-grandchildren, Sue and James faithfully travel near and far to support and celebrate the many accomplishments and activities of those they love.

Their story is one of dedication — dedication to education, to service, to faith, to community, and to family. It is with great respect, gratitude, and admiration that we recognize Sue and James Medlock as the 2026 Grand Parade Marshals for Cushing Celebrates America with Friends and Neighbors.
