The last train in an oil boom town, set in 1910. Something eerie is going on!!!
NIGHTMARE ON BROADWAY
The Legend of the Last Train
Cushing, Oklahoma — 1912.
Before the oil… Cushing was a quiet Oklahoma town. Then they struck black gold. Almost overnight, the prairie erupted with derricks. Oilmen, roughnecks, merchants, gamblers, drifters, and fortune seekers poured into Cushing from across the country. Hotels filled. The streets crowded. Wagons rolled day and night between Cushing and the oil fields. And through the heart of it all ran the railroad. Every day, trains pulled into Cushing carrying workers looking for a job… businessmen chasing fortunes… families searching for a new beginning… and strangers whose reasons for coming to town were better left unasked.
By 1915, the Cushing oil field was producing hundreds of thousands of barrels a day. Money flowed. Broadway came alive. And Cushing became known as the Queen of the Oil Fields. But old railroad towns have stories. Stories that don’t always make the history books. And in Cushing, there is one story that refuses to die. The story of the Last Train.
They say that one autumn night, sometime during the great oil boom, passengers gathered at the Cushing station for one final departure. The Station Master checked his pocket watch. The conductor called for boarding. Men carried suitcases. Women gathered their children. Oil workers climbed aboard after another long shift in the fields. Then the whistle sounded. The train disappeared into the Oklahoma night. But somewhere beyond Cushing… something went wrong. The train never reached its destination. No passengers returned. And no one could explain what became of them.
Years passed. The oil boom faded. The crowds disappeared. But on certain October nights… people along Broadway began hearing something. A distant whistle. The ringing of a railroad bell. Footsteps near the old station. And the sound of a train approaching Cushing… even when there was no train on the tracks.
More than a century later, the Station Master’s watch is running again. The passengers are returning. And this October… The Last Train is pulling into Cushing one more time. The question isn’t whether you’ll hear it coming. The question is… will you get off before it leaves?
